Needham Council on Aging (COA) / Center at the Heights    781-455-7555

The Needham COA, located at 300 Hillside Avenue, provides non-medical transportation to and from the COA for activities including community meals. They also provide transportation to grocery stores and pharmacies. Voluntary donations are accepted. Contact the COA for additional details.

With a grant from the BID-Needham and the Metrowest Health Foundation, we are able to provide free rides using Lyft.  Many of our older residents do not have access to a smart phone and are not familiar with ride share programs.  We can bridge that gap and help these residents get to there important appointments.

Springwell’s Senior Medical Escort Program    617-926-4100

This Springwell program matches seniors age 60 or older with volunteers to drive and/or accompany them to medical appointments in Boston and its western suburbs. To be eligible, an individual needs to be unable to get to medical appointments independently, and able to get in and out of the car with minimal assistance. The individual is responsible for tolls and parking fees. The requested donation is $4.00 each way. Call Springwell at least two or more weeks before the appointment to make your request.

During illness or crisis volunteers can assist with providing meals, transportation, running errands, and grocery shopping. There are no set times or costs. Call for additional information.

This service provides transportation for routine and non-emergency medical appointments. Drivers are available to pick up prescriptions or medical equipment, and can sign a person out from appointments requiring anesthesia. Contact BeDriven to schedule.

The RIDE    617-337-2727

This MBTA service is for persons with disabilities and seniors who are unable to independently use public transportation. The program requires a face-to-face interview which can be scheduled over the phone. Free transportation to the interview will be provided by The RIDE. Once approved, rides are scheduled by calling 1-844-427-7433.

GoGo Grandparent    855-464-6871

GoGo Grandparent allows a person of any age to use Uber or Lyft without having a smartphone. They can provide transportation to any destination provided the individual can get in and out of the vehicle with minimal assistance. Call GoGo Grandparent and follow the prompts to arrange your ride.
