older woman who appreciates home delivered meals

After my husband died, my monthly Social Security benefits decreased by 30 percent. I never had a lot of money, but paying for groceries is nearly impossible today. Getting meals every day from Springwell makes a world of difference to me – and my pocketbook. I am so grateful.

Home Delivered Meals

When issues of mobility, illness or disability make it difficult to get out of the house, seniors can need a regular, nutritious meal delivered to their door. A friendly check-in with a caring driver provides an important link to additional services as they are needed.

OVERVIEW

The Home Delivered Meals Program provides seniors with a nutritious lunch delivered to their door by a friendly driver for up to 5 days per week. The lunch contains at least 1/3 of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowance of nutrients, and a variety of menus are available to meet special dietary needs for a number medical issues. Menus available include regular, diabetic, cardiac, mechanical soft, puree, ground, low lactose, renal, and, in some communities, Kosher and Chinese.

WHY SPRINGWELL

Springwell’s Home Delivered Meals are consistently rated as both nutritious and tasty! Springwell’s Nutrition Department is led by a registered dietitian, who provides oversight to our catering vendors for meal planning, and samples a selection of meals weekly to ensure the high quality of nutritional content, taste, presentation, and variety. Our Home Delivered Meals Supervisor coordinates a team of drivers who are carefully selected, trained and supervised. Drivers provide an important daily check-in, and can also provide important contact information to seniors who might not otherwise have a way to learn about supports that are available. Meal type descriptions and monthly menus are available online.

COST

While this is a free service, meal recipients are encouraged to make a voluntary donation of $3.00 per regular or therapeutic meal, and $3.50 for Kosher meals.
