Supporting Elder Independence

Donations to Springwell support our Ken Alpert Elder Independence Fund and Nutrition Programs, making a real, concrete difference in the lives of the people we serve. You can learn more about Ken Alpert here. Home-delivered meals are often the first service a senior receives from Springwell, and often provide critical daily contact that helps promote senior health and caregiver peace of mind. The baseline of government support for Springwell’s Nutrition Programs has never covered the full cost of operating those programs. And unfortunately, there are some important needs associated with aging and caregiving for which there are few government assistance options. The Ken Alpert Elder Independence Fund, supported entirely by donations, allows Springwell staff to provide seniors and caregivers help they need to alleviate their distress, maintain their independence and improve their quality of life:

  • $35—could buy an emergency bag of groceries for a senior coming home from the hospital.
  • $60—can provide a week’s worth of nutritious meals to a senior at risk of malnutrition
  • $100—could purchase a rolling walker to help with mobility
  • $500—could provide a wheelchair user with a modular ramp for accessibility
  • $1,000—can underwrite moving expenses for an abused senior
