Medical appointments can be tiring and difficult to negotiate on your own. Sometimes seniors who don’t drive need more than just a ride in order to get to these important health care meetings.
Springwell’s volunteer Medical Escorts provide seniors with an escort to medical appointments within Belmont, Brookline, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Weston, surrounding towns and Boston hospitals. Medical Escorts wait during the appointment (up to 1.5 hours) and provide accompaniment home, providing transport and companionship. Medical Escorts can provide a ride and they can give minimal assistance getting into and out of a car and into the medical facility.
Springwell has more than 30 years of experience working with volunteers. Our Medical Escorts are carefully screened, trained, and matched with a senior living in the community. They come from all walks of life and include professionals, retirees, students, and newcomers who want to make a deeper connection with their community.
