COVID-19 Vaccination Eligibility Update

February 17, 2021 – Today, Governor Baker announced that individuals age 65+ and those with 2 or more comorbidities will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations beginning on Thursday, February 18th.  It is expected that the this phase of the vaccine rollout will make an additional 1 million individuals eligible so it may take several weeks to schedule an appointment. Please see the highlighted links above for more information on each of these groups.

Previously, Governor Baker announced that effective Thursday, February 11th, an individual who accompanies a person age 75 or older to one of the four mass vaccination sites to receive the vaccine will be eligible to receive the vaccine too, if they have an appointment booked (more information can be found here).  Additional information on the original January 25th inclusion of those aged 75 and older in Phase 1 can be found here.

As a supplement to the the vaccine map on the mass.gov website, individuals who are 75 and older can dial 211 to reach a resource line that will be able to assist with scheduling appointments for COVID-19 vaccines. The resource line will be available from 8:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. There is a detailed update for individuals aged 75 and over on vaccine distributions on this page of the mass.gov website.

The resource line has access only to the same appointments that are available on the website.  If an appointment is not available, the resource line can put someone on a call back list for one of the mass vaccination sites.  There is no call back list for local appointments.  The resource line has access to interpreters for those callers who need to speak with someone in a language other than English.  The resource line is only able to schedule appointments and cannot answer questions about the vaccine. If you have questions about the vaccine, we recommend that you speak with your physician or review the Frequently Asked Questions page on the State website.

The vaccination roll out plan is a developing one. Springwell will share updates as we receive them.

January 26, 2021 – Yesterday, Governor Baker announced additional rollouts to the COVID-19 vaccine.  Starting February 1, individuals age 75 and older will be eligible to receive a vaccine as part of Phase 2 Step 1 of the State’s plan.  It is expected that individuals age 65 and older will become eligible later in February.

The Commonwealth of MA has produced a flyer that provides some information for adults 75 and older about their eligibility for the COVID-19. The flyer does refer individuals to Councils on Aging and Aging Service Access Point organizations like Springwell for assistance scheduling an appointment. While we’re here to help, the only way to schedule an appointment at this time is through the vaccine map on the mass.gov website.
